5 STRANGE THINGS That Happened on the Set of STRANGER THINGS
While most things that happened on the set of Stranger Things could be described as strange, the situation I’m about to present can only be called macabre.
The Netflix series Stranger Things made us all nostalgic for the 1980s and carefree childhood. The production tells the story of a group of friends from the town of Hawkins who must face the mysterious disappearance of one of them, the arrival of a strange girl known as Eleven, and the Demogorgon, a monster from another world that – to quote a classic – takes no prisoners. It turns out, however, that the child actors and the creators of the series also had to deal on set with some unusual situations that could be described as strange.
Ghostbusters costumes
In Season 2 of the series, the main characters decide to dress up for Halloween as the iconic characters from Ghostbusters. There would be nothing unusual about that if not for the fact that the creators of Stranger Things, the Duffer Brothers, had to consult this idea with the director of Ghostbusters, Ivan Reitman.

As they admitted themselves, it was one of the most stressful moments of their lives. To make things worse, the serious tone of the director on the other end of the line did not initially bode well. He was not entirely convinced. Fortunately, the Duffer Brothers, with their speech about how much the now-iconic 1984 film meant to them, and after passing a special test, finally obtained Reitman’s approval. He ultimately admitted that he found the idea very flattering.
Glitter
The young actors, both on and off set, tried to behave with exceptional maturity. Still, they were just kids. So it’s no surprise that filming had to be halted for almost an hour when Millie Bobby Brown, who plays Eleven, showed up covered head to toe in glitter. No one knew how it happened. The teenage actress herself never revealed the secret. Although the show’s creators praise Millie for her exceptional acting skills and instincts beyond what’s typical for children her age, they don’t have to worry about glitter situations with adult actors.

Dead body
It must be remembered that Stranger Things relies primarily on working with child actors. That brings many complications. It turns out that children cannot perform some scenes the same way adults can. So if a scene requires swimming in freezing water at 3 a.m., you can be sure no child actor will take on that challenge.
According to the American biweekly Vulture, it was originally planned to use a mannequin, but it didn’t look realistic enough for the scene of pulling Will’s dead body from the water. Therefore, a stuntwoman was asked to dress as the boy and perform the scene. In the middle of the night, she lay motionless in the icy water, pretending to be a corpse.

Dead actor
The above scene may not seem particularly shocking compared to the prank that the Duffer Brothers played on the mother of the actor portraying Will Byers. The body used in the first season was specially ordered from a company specializing in special effects. When the fake Will arrived on set, the creators decided to scare Noah Schnapp’s mom.
The corpse of her son was placed in a closet in a dark room. At first, she was frightened, but later she found the prank funny. Of course, that’s if we are to believe the creators of the series. Reportedly, the story is confirmed by photos that Mrs. Schnapp took with the realistic mannequin and then sent to her friends.

Real murder
While most things that happened on the set of Stranger Things could be described as strange, the situation I’m about to present can only be called macabre. It must be noted, however, that it did not occur during the actual filming of the show but several months after production had wrapped.
According to the website DreadCentral, in the shopping mall that appeared in Season 3 of the series, a gruesome murder took place. The body of 19-year-old Silling A. Man was found inside a Subway restaurant. But that’s not the worst part. It had been there for two weeks before potential customers discovered it.
